Biography:

Born in 1976, Dubliner Colin Farrell studied acting at the Gaiety School of Drama before appearing in several BBC television shows. Farrell’s breakthrough role came in 2000’s Tigerland, which he followed up with leading parts in Phone Booth (2002), Minority Report (2002) and Alexander (2004).

In 2009, the actor earned a Golden Globe for his work in In Bruges before going on to star in blockbuster films Horrible Bosses (2011)Total Recall (2012), and A Winter’s Tale (2014).

Farrell briefly switched to the small screen in 2015 when he costarred in the TV series True Detective alongside Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams before returning to films a year later for the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Farrell’s other blockbuster films include Tim Burton‘s 2019 live-action fantasy Dumbo, and Matt Reeves’ 2022 The Batman, in which he portrayed Penguin.

Farrell will once again return to TV for a spin-off solo series based on his Batman character, which is slated to air on HBO Max.

The actor has two sons. He shares James Padraig (Born in 2003) with model Kim Bordenave, who he dated from 2002 to 2003. He also shares Henry Tadeusz (Born 2009) with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuśfrom whom he officially split in 2010.

Farrell has been an outspoken advocate for various charities during his career, including lending his support to the anti-bullying campaign Stand Up! and becoming an Ambassador of the Homeless World Cup in 2015.
