My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2's Lainie Kazan suffers head-on collision in Los Angeles

This is the moment Lainie Kazan, a star in the My Big Fat Greek Wedding film series, was taken away in a neck brace after a head-on car crash outside a Greek restaurant in Hollywood.

Lainie Kazan, who plays mom in the two films, was driving in her Lincoln SUV along Ventura Boulevard when she was involved in a collision outside The Great Greek Restaurant.

An agent for Kazan, who played the mother in both Big Fat Greek films, thanked fans for their support and said the 75-year-old actress is 'on the mend' following the crash (left and right)

An agent for the 75-year-old actress told People: 'Lainie Kazan thanks her fans for their good wishes following an auto accident this past weekend. She is on the mend.' 

The cause of the accident is not yet known, although the Los Angeles Police Department said no citations have been issued. The incident is still under investigation.

According to TMZ, Kazan's agent would not comment as to her current condition following the crash. 

My Big Fat Greek Wedding was a runaway hit in 2002, telling the story of a young Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek and her struggle to get her family to accept him.

Despite costing just $5million to make, that release generated an astonishing $368.7 million in box office sales. 

A sequel, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, was released last month but has managed to net just $46.7million in three weeks.

The film has also been panned by critics, who claim that it was very cliched with wooden acting tha feels labored.
